PARKING - before footbridge on right only

Walk right, along river 300 metres.

Because the portage is very narrow beside the lock, the organisers keep supporters on the far side until their crews are seen approaching.  You can then cross one of the two bridges over the lock (one will always be useable even if one set of lock gates is open to let big boats through).  The crews have quite a long portage and can even put their boats down for a few minutes on the grass beside the lock.  As only a few supporters are around it is relatively quiet and a good chance to make the paddlers eat and drink.  They then carry on taking their boats down a ramp to the pontoon where they get back in. (Some supporters followed all the way down there but the ramp was narrow and it looked as though they would be in the way.)

The next vantage point is the riverbanks in Runnymede Park - called Bell Weir on DW instructions but you can't actually get to the lock at Bell Weir.  Access the riverside to support your crew at Runnymede.
